What is Laser-Assisted Hatching?

During the early stages of development, embryos are surrounded by a protective outer shell called the zona pellucida. In order to implant into the uterine lining, the embryo must “hatch” out of this shell naturally.

In certain cases, this process may be difficult, reducing the chances of implantation. Laser-Assisted Hatching uses a highly precise laser beam to create a small opening in the zona pellucida, making it easier for the embryo to hatch and attach to the uterus.

When is Laser-Assisted Hatching Recommended?
